October Member of the Month: Maik

Some members train hard. Some show up consistently. Some lift up the community around them. Maik does all three and that's why he's our Member of the Month for October!
Classes, events, competitions – Maik's there. But it's not just about showing up. He brings intention, a strong mindset, and genuine support for others without any ego. As Maik puts it: "No one gets left out, no matter your body type, fitness level, or goal. Everyone waits until the last person is done."
He's always looking to learn more, refine his technique, and push his limits. That growth mindset makes him an inspiration to train alongside.
Here's his story 👇
1. What originally brought you to BLN, and what motivates you to stick with it?
At some point, my cousin took me to BLN, and from the very first visit, it just felt right. The atmosphere, the cleanliness of the box, the openness of the coaches - you could always ask questions, and they were always happy to help. You can really count on each other here. No one gets left out, no matter your body type, fitness level, or goal. Everyone waits until the last person is done, whether it's a team workout or a solo session. This kind of atmosphere is something truly special, and it's exactly what keeps me motivated to keep going. By now, it almost feels like family.
2. Do you have a favourite workout or class? If so, why?
I love long, steady workouts or shorter sessions that push my heart rate way up (HIIT). That kind of training challenges my mind just as much as my body. What I enjoy most is when it becomes a mental challenge - staying focused and not giving up. I honestly believe that's just as important as physical strength, maybe even the key part of it.
3. Do you have a funny fitness fun fact or story from the studio?
After training at BLN for quite a while, I've developed a little habit. Whenever I'm on the tram, subway, or bus, I automatically grab the handrail with a hook grip, completely instinctively, as if I'm about to start a heavy deadlift. The next sudden stop? I'm ready for it. It's crazy how much training carries over into everyday life!
4. How do you manage to fit training into your everyday life – do you have a tip?
Training isn't just physical movement for me. It's mental self-care. It helps me clear my head, let go of stress, and recharge my energy. Especially on tough days, that's when I need it the most. It's my reset button.
5. If you had to describe yourself in three words as a fitness member, what would they be?
Long, steady, repeat. That's my kind of grind. Testing: focus, grit, and patience.
